Hollywooooood! Get ready to laugh ‘til your soul feels brand new, get ready to be covered with jokes from all the legends of a darker hue! ;Cause the Hollywood Black Comedy Festival is sliding BACK into the city with all the flames, and we’re so excited to laugh with you in the crowd! On Saturday, November 1st, the Dolby Theatre turns into our laugh factory right here in the middle of the city for a night that’s gonna be straight Black excellence — full of heavy-hitting jokes, legendary energy from the OGs, and hella jokes to keep us laughing until NEXT year’s show. This is a bit less of a comedy show and more of a family reunion of Black brilliance, and everybody in the building is about to feel it - like me and you as we sit in the crowd laughing our asses off.
Headlining this celebration are some of the biggest names in the game, each one bringing their own flavor to the mic. First up, the one and only Deon Cole — Chicago’s own master of smooth punchlines and slick storytelling that KEEPS us on the edge of our seats. You know him from Black-ish, Grown-ish, and his killer stand-up specials, but nothing hits like Deon live, when he’s in full swing with that sharp wit and sly grin that keeps crowds doubled over. Then there’s Earthquake, a certified comedy vet whose raw, unfiltered humor cuts straight to the heart of real life. Nobody commands a stage quite like ‘Quake — he’s bold, he don’t give AF about hurting anyone’s feelings,, and he’s gonna have the Dolby shaking with pure, gut-busting laughter. And let’s not forget Nate Jackson, the newest one on the scene who’s become a powerhouse with his high-energy sets and quick-fire delivery. It’s made him one of the most exciting voices in comedy today, and he’s been grinding non stop all year long. And now - he’s stepping into his star moment with the whole world watching.
